Seminary of the East Residential Program
At Seminary of the East, we offer programs through teaching centers in New England and Washington, D.C. Since our programs are housed in local churches, all students commute to their classes and other program activities.
Classes and Program Structure
Classes are typically held 1-2 days a week on Thursdays and Fridays. For select programs, students may meet on Saturdays periodically throughout the academic year. Students find that spending concentrated time each week with their seminary peers builds close friendships and lasting ministry partnerships.
- New England classes meet Thursdays from 2:30-10 p.m. and occasionally on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Washington, D.C. classes meet Thursdays from 5:30-10 p.m. and Fridays from 6-10 p.m.
Beyond face-to-face classes, most students have the option to take some courses fully online or through a hybrid model combining both classroom and online teaching. We've combined delivery methods to make degree programs more accessible for busy students working in ministry.
For our master's programs and the Certificate in Theological Studies, students register for 1-2 courses at the beginning of each academic term. Students in specialized certificates register once for the entire program and move through their courses as cohort, taking 1 course at a time with the same group of students.
Mentoring, Discipleship, and Guided Learning
At Bethel Seminary, we focus on developing whole leaders. Our mentoring programs and discipleship groups allow students to grow deeper in the personal spirituality and give them a balanced foundation for leading ministry.
All programs focus on getting students into real-world ministry through guided learning experiences. Students partner with their course professors and mentors to apply what they've learned in real ministry settings—and earn academic credit for their work.
