Develop a deeper understanding of the Christian faith that will change the way you work, serve, and experience day-to-day life.

In the Master of Arts (Theological Studies) at Bethel Seminary of the East, we attract students who seek to integrate their faith and learning as committed and informed Christians—and who want to relate their faith to their vocations and daily interactions. The Biblical & Theological Studies concentration in the Master of Arts (Theological Education) degree provides an excellent foundation and preparation for those who plan to teach or complete a Ph.D. in a classical theological discipline.

The program encourages students to:

  • Gain knowledge appropriate to their field of specialization
  • Grow in their ability to analyze pertinent texts and materials
  • Develop the capacity to think critically
  • Learn research, writing, and communication skills

We’ve developed a program model that allows students to explore a broad range of topics from Christian social ethics, to global ministry, to Old Testament, through a blend of course delivery options—offering flexibility and a variety of learning experiences.

In selected courses, students have the opportunity to complete a Guided Learning Experience (GLE). The GLE helps students put their studies into action through hands-on experience in a local church or ministry. Students work closely with faculty and ministry mentors to integrate their GLE with their course work.
