Printer Installation - St. Paul Campus

Windows XP & Vista Printer Installation

1. Go to the Start Menu:

  • Vista: Select the Start Search field.
  • XP: Select Run.

2. In the field type:

    \\bsp-spooler.its.bethel.edu and press Enter.

3. Authenticate using BU\username

(Ex. BU\doejon) as your username and your Bethel password.

Press Enter. (Skip this step for Bethel-owned computers)

4. In the window that opens choose a printer:

  • semc203-1 (this printer is located in the computer lab)
  • semc101-2 (this printer is located on first floor near the reference desk)

5. Double-click on the printer to load the driver.

The printers you add will now show up on your list of printers when you access a document to print.

Note: Steps 1 through 3 will need to be repeated each time the computer connects to the network. Steps 4 and 5 are one-time processes unless other printers are added.

Mac Printer Installation

1. Click on Go, then select Connect to Server

2. Type smb://bsp-spooler.its.bethel.edu

3. Authenticate to BU using your Bethel username and password. The domain is BU. Click OK.

4. Select macPrinters from the drop down menu. Click OK.

5. From the list of printers that appear, double-click on one of the following options to install:

  • semc203-1 (this printer is located in the computer lab)
  • semc101-2 (this printer is located on first floor near the reference desk)

6. You will be prompted to enter a password. Type your Mac's password, not your BU password. (No characters will be displayed as you enter the password.) After entering password, press Enter.

7. You may go back and add more printers by double clicking on the printer. When you are done installing printers, go to step 8.

8. Restart the computer. A PaperCut icon will appear on your screen.

9. Double click on the PaperCut icon. Use your Bethel username and password to sign into the printing system. A PaperCut window will appear. You must stay logged into PaperCut in order to print.

The printers you added will now show up on your list of printers when you access a document to print.
