Bethel Seminary planted its roots in the Midwest, in Chicago, back in 1871. As we grew, we moved to our current home in St. Paul, remaining planted in the central U.S., and expanded our seminary education to serve students working in population-dense areas on both coasts.

Today, we offer programs through our main campus in St. Paul, a location in San Diego, and teaching centers on the East Coast.

In addition, many of our academic programs blend online learning with week long classroom intensives, making them a popular option for students serving throughout the country and the world.

St. Paul

The St. Paul campus is our largest—occupying 245 wooded acres on the shore of Lake Valentine. Seminary students enjoy a quiet, serene experience in academic buildings that have been architected to blend into the natural surroundings.

Located in an expansive and diverse metro area, the St. Paul campus gives students quick access to internships throughout the Twin Cities. The abundance of churches and ministry organizations serving in all kinds of settings, from tight-knit urban neighborhoods to large suburban communities, lets students jump right into meaningful hands-on work in their area of interest.

The majority of our students are commuters, taking time from their ministry, work, or family schedules to join their seminary peers on campus for classes, events, and group projects. Many students also choose to live with roommates or their families in campus apartments just a short walk away from the main buildings. Plus, one of the Bethel childhood development centers is conveniently located nearby to serve seminary families.

Seminary of the East

Bethel Seminary of the East trains students in the dense populations of New England and Washington, D.C. These convenient teaching centers make seminary education accessible—allowing our students to stay in their local communities and ministries.

The East Coast is a rich bed of cultural and socio-economic diversity—perfect for students who want to step out of their comfort zone into challenging and life-changing ministry.

We hold our programs in existing churches to give students an opportunity to engage in mentorship and community building. Plus, the resources we would use on facilities are channeled right into developing our students.
