- Located in Fremont (40 minutes south of San Francisco) Bridges Community Church is part of the Evangelical Free Church of America. Bridges is an amazingly diverse community of people committed to following Jesus and developing Christ-followers. We long to make a real difference in our community and our world with the way that we live for Him.
- In addition to our English worship services, we have Cantonese, Mandarin, Filipino, and Deaf services and small groups for Romanian and Korean speakers as well.
- We are praying for God to call a fulltime Pastor to our Mandarin Congregation (80-100 adults), many of whom are first generation Chinese-Americans from overseas. Presently, there are over 38,000 Chinese in Fremont (17.8% of the total population); this figure has increased from 29,000 in 2000. We believe that our Mandarin Congregation will play a key role in expanding God’s kingdom with Chinese people.

Position: English Ministry Pastor/Minister

Job Description: HOPE church is a Chinese church with a growing English ministry consisting of children, youth and young adults. The English pastor/minister will oversee the English ministry which includes English-speaking adults, students, youth, and children. The English pastor will work closely with and under the supervision of Pastor Michael Chiang and will need to exhibit the gifts of preaching, teaching, evangelizing and caring.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversees all English-speaking adult, youth, and children ministries (i.e. worship, Sunday school, Bible study/fellowship groups, etc.), gives direction and provides supervision to ministries' staff and volunteers.
- Preaches and teaches in English worship services and Sunday school classes.
- Oversees outreach programs, care ministries, and fellowship for English-speaking adults.
- Serves as a liaison between the English and Chinese congregations.
- Engages with parents, families, youth, and other adults to actively promote faith development and spiritual growth for those who are in the English ministry.
- Develops discipleship and training classes for English-speaking believers.
Candidate Description:
- Called by God and has a burden to reach out to the unsaved
- Has passionate love for Christ as exemplifying in daily life and character
- Enthusiastic in making disciples of Christ
- Possesses formal theological training, preferably at a graduate level
- Preferably has ministerial experience
- Has spiritual and emotional maturity
- Exhibits strong teaching, leading, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ethnic Chinese familiar with American culture, or non-Chinese but with knowledge of Chinese culture
- Preferably married
- Agrees with HOPE doctrines, bylaws, and practices
