Job Description: The title “Associate Pastor” is used intentionally to indicate the role to be more than a “Youth Specialist” who takes care of the kids. Rather, the Associate would work with and under the supervision of the Senior Pastor to advance the overall Mission and Vision of the entire church.
Duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Be actively involved with the Roundup Youth Center ministry – working collaboratively with the Youth Center Steering Committee.
  • Recruit, train, and disciple volunteers for Children and Youth Ministries.
  • Work individually and with small groups of children and youth to encourage them in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to disciple them in their walk of following Jesus.
  • Organize events and volunteers to support the Mission and Vision of the Church.*
  • Attend and participate in (as a non-voting member) the Church Council and the Youth Center Steering Committee meetings.
  • Meet regularly with the Senior Pastor for Prayer, Planning, Training, Sharing of Visions and Coordination of ministry.

I. Worship Ministry

II. Next Gen Ministry

    • Lead in a hands-on manner youth ministry team members in Junior/Senior High Groups
    • Develop an overall ministry vision and plan for college and young adult age, recruiting and training leaders
    • Provide parenting classes/groups/training
  • Develop a comprehensive spiritual formation plan for youth grades 7-12, working in partnership with Children’s Ministry team leaders

III. Other Ministry

  • Serve as a member of the pastoral leadership team, reporting directly to the lead pastor
  • Serve as an elder, on the Elder Team
  • Preach/teach as needed by lead pastor as part of the preaching/teaching team
  • Assist lead pastor in member care and pastoral care visits as needed
  • Other duties as specified by the lead pastor 

Candidate Description: We are looking for a staff pastor who will equip people to serve, provide vision and direction to his areas of ministry, delegate well to others, exhibit follow through and produce results, and have a capacity to grow himself, others, and his position.  The lead pastor is not looking for a junior or an assistant pastor, but an associate pastor, a full partner in the ministry who is qualified and capable to lead and develop his own portion of the ministry, in partnership with the lead pastor.

  1. This position requires a man with spiritual maturity. This would be characterized by love for God and others, humility, obedience to God’s Word, and a desire for continual growth in his relationship to the LORD. This person will lead an open and transparent life, expecting to be challenged, by the lead pastor and others he may choose, to personal holiness, purity, and a lifestyle honoring to God and his family.
  2. Three years minimum full time experience preferred in a multi-staff church.
  3. Must be musically gifted (preferably both vocally and instrumentally).
  4. Leadership ability in team building, one on one and group mentoring/discipling of volunteer staff, and ministry vision and direction.
  5. Master’s Degree preferred (M.Div., Th.M., MA, MM).
  6. Possess a strong administrative/organizational nature.
  7. Understanding of audio/video technology.
  8. Be in agreement with the doctrinal statement of the Christian & Missionary Alliance.

  • Work closely with the Lead Pastor in developing equipping ministry for the saints.
  • Be prepared to preach when called upon in our Sunday morning worship gatherings.
  • Be prepared to serve at weddings and funerals and counseling as called upon. 

Candidate Description

  1. Character consistent with biblical qualifications for an elder as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
  2. Demonstrated ability leading, organizing and participating in adult small groups.
  3. Ideally have 3-5 years of experience serving on a church staff.
  4. Have a sovereign grace position on salvation.
  5. Strong commitment to biblical exposition and training others in biblical theology.
  6. Seminary (Masters) degree or higher preferred.

Principle Function

  • It is understood that a great deal of time will be spent with students and young adults on a one-to-one basis, building relationships, strengthening self esteem and encouraging them to become established as Christian believers.
  • To make calls on students and young adults when they are in a hospital or in other primary moments of their lives. Outreach to new students through home calls and campus contacts (school lunch, or after school contacts).
