Job Description:   Commissioned Army officer. Spiritual counselor. Religious leader. As a Chaplain in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, you're the pillar of spiritual strength and well-being for Soldiers and their families, bringing them closer to God in times of need, providing advice in matters pertaining to religion, morals and morale, preparing them for difficult challenges ahead and counseling when those tough times arise. You are there through life's blessings and trials weddings, births, funerals, couples therapy, grief counseling and more. Serving in the National Guard has so many benefits education, adventure, personal growth it's easy to forget it's also a job and a ministry. Chaplains consult and assist in matters including: Suicide prevention, Post-traumatic stress disorder, Marriage and relationship enhancement, Clinical pastoral education (for hospital chaplains), Overseeing religious ministries, including workshops, counseling sessions, religious education and special events, Officiating at military functions, funerals, memorials and other ceremonies, Providing religious ministry to a variety of armed service personnel and civilians from foreign nations and agencies. Chaplains are non-combatant and don't carry weapons. Security is provided by a Chaplain Assistant, who also assists with the administrative aspects of the ministry and carries a weapon. Chaplain Candidates, you don't have to wait until graduation to join the Army National Guard chaplaincy. Training to be a Chaplain in the Guard while simultaneously training for the civilian ministry, lets you earn a substantial paycheck while greatly adding to your education and experiences.
Candidate Description:  You must be U.S. citizen by birth or naturalized, pass a physical exam, and be between 21 and 42 years old, an ecclesiastical endorsement and a qualifying Masters level degree in Theology. Additionally, Chaplain Candidates will need to be fulltime student in seminary. Truly successful individuals will also be or a desire to become self-disciplined, taking initiative, confident, intelligent, physically fit, the ability to perform under pressure, leadership, the ability to make decisions quickly and complete missions and respect for subordinates.
