Position: Director of the Practice of Ministry and Mission
Job Description: Wesley seeks a Director of its contextual education program (Practice of Ministry and Mission) to begin no sooner than Jan. 1, 2009 and no later than July 1, 2009.  Rank open and determined by qualifications and experience.  Tenure track position.  The Director of PMM will be expected to work collegially with two assistant directors, faculty, experienced pastoral leaders, and student peer groups.  The Director will: Be skilled in working with and training mentors, supervisors and lay learning partners in congregations; Meet with and advise students regarding their ministry placements; Evidence knowledge and openness to developing trends in the church and its ministries; Demonstrate knowledge of United Methodist polity and ordination processes and work with candidates and judicatory leaders in other denominations; Display knowledge of trends, research, and practices in the field of education/ contextual education; Provide administrative leadership and oversight to the PMM program; Show commitment to the life of the church and its ministries; Work effectively in diverse communities; and Demonstrate personal qualities of collegiality, administrative skill, creativity, conflict management, ability to communicate.
Candidate Description: Qualifications include: M.Div. degree; Ph.D., Th.D. or Ed.D. preferred; Ordained with experience in pastoral leadership; Experience in contextual education; and Expertise and ability to teach in congregational leadership, practical theology, pastoral practice or related fields.
