Position: Chaplain Candidate (full time or part time)
Job Description: The United States Army is in need of highly-qualified applicants for the position of "Chaplain Candidate." As a Chaplain Officer you will have a ministry to men and women in uniform spanning the globe. Your ministry doesn’t stop there. You will not only minister to Soldiers, but their families as well. You will be a preacher, teacher, counselor while also serving as an Army Officer. The Army Chaplaincy differs from that of traditional ministry. The focus of the Army Chaplain Corp is to have “A Ministry of Presence”. Unlike traditional Pastoral ministry you will “go to work” everyday with your Soldiers, giving you a unique opportunity for an unparalleled depth of ministry, to the men and women who give their lives to serve the United States of America. Serving God as a Pastor, Rabbi, Imam, or Priest will require you to develop your ministerial skills in seminary and make application of those skills among the community of the faithful. The Army offers the opportunity to learn pastoral skills that will enhance your seminary and pastoral experiences. The Active Duty Army offers a plethora of benefits unrivaled in the civilian world, such as paid vacation, comprehensive medical care, retirement plans, life insurance, and more. While attending seminary, Chaplain Candidates may apply for tuition assistance through the U.S. Army Reserve. You may be eligible for up to 100% of the tuition costs, up to $250 per credit hour with a maximum cap of $4500 per year. This program requires service of at least four years in a U.S. Army Reserve unit once you become a qualified Chaplain. You do not need to wait until ordination to join the Army Chaplaincy. By joining the Army Reserve Chaplain Candidate Program, you will get a head start on Army Chaplain training, as well as all the benefits of being an Army Officer while still in seminary. Few job opportunities of this nature exist for those who have not yet garnered their Masters-level degree. To be eligible for this program, you must: Obtain an ecclesiastical approval from your denomination or faith group; Educationally, you must: Possess a baccalaureate degree of not less than 120 semester hours; Be a full-time graduate student at an accredited seminary or theological school; Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident; Be able to receive a favorable background check; Pass a physical exam.

Position: Army Chaplain, Active Duty or Reserves
Job Description: The Army Chaplain is a pastor in boots.  The average Battalion (starting point in ministry) is 275 to 450 Young Adults who are mostly age 18 to 26, with 60% being married, and so congregations have several little children as well.  The majority of the people know Jesus Christ as Lord and so there is a great opportunity to Disciple, as well as a great opportunity for outreach.  Chaplain Benefits include: Innovative Ministry that is well supported, Competitive Salary, and Reasonable Housing and Subsistence Allowances.  Possibility of a Year of Funded Clinical Pastoral Education after the third year of Active service and a year of Funded Graduate School between 10th to 12th year of service.  Continuing Education in Suicide Prevention, Marriage Preparation and Enrichment, Family Ministry Help.  Low cost Insurance, Medical and Dental Plans, Great Retirement Benefits, 30 Days Annual Vacation, Free Travel for soldier and family on Government Aircraft, Commissioned as a First Lieutenant; Active Duty Chaplains are considered for Captain after 6 months and after two years in the Army Reserves.  Chaplain Candidate Benefits include the following: No Army obligations during the Academic Year - the Army wants the student to do their best; The Chaplain Candidate is Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant; The student may receive $4,500 Tuition Assistance each year; In the summer the Chaplain Candidate attends the Chaplain Officer Basic Course at Fort Jackson, SC.
Candidate Description: Qualifications for Reserve or Active Duty Chaplains are as follows: 1. US Citizen or Green Card Holder; 2. Under age 47 unless prior service in Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force or Coast Guard; 3. Able to pass a Physical Examination; 4. Meet the Army height and weight standards; 5. A Masters Degree in Theology or Religion of at least 72 hours from an Accredited School.  Chaplain Candidate Qualifications: 1. A student at an Accredited Theological School; 2. Must be Commissioned before 43rd Birthday; 3. See 2-4 under Chaplain Qualifications.
