Position: Director/Pastor of Children's Ministries

Job Description: First Baptist Church, Minneapolis, is seeking a full-time Director of Children's Ministries who will recruit and work with lay leaders to oversee our children's ministries. First Baptist is located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. We have a growing church community of about 350 and a children’s ministry of about 80 kids that represent the diverse group of people living in the city of Minneapolis and surrounding areas. The church staff includes four ministry leaders who are committed to growing in their relationship with God through worship, community and outreach.
Position Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for the current Sunday morning and Wednesday night programs and coordinate childcare for special events and training meetings.
  • The candidate will supervise the Children's Choir Director, the processing of lay person applications for service in children's ministries, and the budgets related to children's ministries.
  • The candidate will be responsible for selection of children's ministry curriculum, children's camp scheduling, and all communications with parents about children's ministry. 

Candidate Description:

  • Candidates should have education or experience in child development, education and experience in Bible teaching, experience training adults and teens for ministry, and experience in ministry administration and recruiting.
  • They must be an organized and skilled administrator who is committed to work with lay leaders to accomplish the children's ministries.
  • They must support the senior pastor and the vision of First Baptist Church.

Church: CrossPoint Church, Bloomington, MN
Position: Family Life Pastor
Open To: Men and Women
Job Description: The primary purpose of this position is to provide vision and direction to the Children's and Student Ministries ensuring a smoothly operating, safe and effective program to make disciples of Jesus Christ. The Family Life Pastor will recruit and train leaders who will touch children's and student's lives with God's love, teach them God's Word and provide fellowship with God's people - laying a foundation that will keep children and students engaged and excited about Jesus Christ.
In addition, and secondarily, the Family Life Pastor will assist the Senior Pastor by providing direction to the Adult Ministries education classes and fill the pulpit for preaching approximately 5 times per year.
Job Duties:

  1. Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the Children's and Student Ministries

    1. Ensure planning, budgeting and recruiting is done annually and completed by June
    2. Ensure all programs and ministries are resourced with biblically-based and culturally-relevant curriculum.
    3. Provide annual and on-going trainings for leaders.
    4. Conduct an annual audit for each ministry to ensure mission relevance and effectiveness.
    5. Oversee and manage the Children's and Student Ministries' budgets.
  2. Organize training and planning sessions for children's and student leaders/workers.
  3. Screen children's and student workers and leaders before placing them in ministry.

    1. Have everyone complete an application and sign a release form for a police background check. This is a safety precaution for the children's sake. Plus, many insurance companies now require such procedures in order to insure the church against liability relating to misconduct.
    2. Proceed with background check and file results in a locked and confidential cabinet located in the church office.
    3. Approve or disapprove workers and leaders for service in the children's and student's ministries.
  4. Work with respective leaders to plan weekly programs and participate as needed.
  5. Be available to counsel and pray with children, students and parents regarding spiritual matters.
  6. Pray for the children and families of Children's and Student Ministries as well as staff of the department.

Candidate Description:
Education:
Biblical/theological training. Master's level preferred; Children, Students or Family Ministry training a plus.
Willing and able to be ordained in the EFCA.
Leadership:

  • Self-starter
  • Manages time well
  • Effective at creating energy and vision for Children's and Student Ministries
  • Good teacher and trainer of children, students and leaders

Communication/Relationship Building:

  • Ability to recruit, motivate and reward volunteers
  • Ability to receive feedback and handle criticism
  • Ability to work as a team member among ministry staff and volunteers

Church: Sunrise United Methodist Church, Mounds View, MN
Position: Children, Youth and Family Coordinator PT (15-20 hrs/mo)

Job Description: Sunrise United Methodist is seeking a person to provide support and leadership to ministries in the following areas:

  • Sunday School and Vacation Bible School: Organize teachers for fall, teach classes where necessary (classes: 3 Sundays/month, VBS: 1 week/summer) and implement selected curriculum.
  • Youth Group: Plan and coordinate twice monthly meetings of youth ages 3rd grade to Junior High.
