Position: Senior Pastor

Job Description: Hillcrest Baptist Church is seeking an experienced pastor/leader who excels in preaching and teaching, who has strong relational and pastoral skills, and who will serve as a wise leader, equipping the congregation for increased impact for Christ in our community and around the world.
General Responsibilities

• The Senior Pastor works closely with the Deacon Board and directs the ministry of the other pastoral and support staff of the church
• The Senior Pastor shall be involved in
• Intercessory prayer on behalf of the congregation and community
• Studying and declaring the Word of God
• Planning and developing weekly and special worship services, including the administration of baptism and The Lord's Supper
• Providing pastoral care (directly or through delegation)
• Discipling leadership groups
• Developing, clarifying, and communicating the vision and mission of the church
• Developing and leading all ministries (directly, or through delegation as an advisor)
• Serving to administrate Board and Deacon policies and as ex-officio member of all boards and committees
• Providing communication, as necessary to all outside vendors, businesses and groups, directly or through delegation
• Representing the church at respective Converge MidAtlantic and Converge Worldwide Biennial meetings   

Candidate Description: Qualifications:
Personal Qualities

1. Must meet New Testament standards for the office (I Tim 3:1-7 Titus 1:6-9)
2. Strong devotional and prayer life
3. Strong Biblically-driven interpersonal skills

Professional Qualities

1. Master of Divinity preferred (or commitment to pursue once called) School
2. Ordination strongly preferred (or commitment to pursue it once called)
3. Willingness to affirm HBC's Statement of Faith
4. Some ministry / ministry-related experience, preferably as a Sr. Pastor

Spiritual Gifts and Skills

1. Preaching and teaching, using primarily an expository approach
2. Leadership with the ability to persuade and coach in the realization of the church's vision
3. Pastoral care and shepherding to meet the needs of the congregation, as well as the ability to equip the members through discipling, encouragement and exhortation.
