Bethel Seminary

Bethel Seminary San Diego

TL552A-C

Bethel Seminary San Diego has approximately 226 students studying for pastoral ministry, Christian education, youth ministry, missions, evangelism, pastoral counseling/professional therapy, as well as other varied para-church activities.

522A Synopsis

522A is a professional, salaried internship preparing M.Div. and M.A.C.E. students for future leadership in the Church.  Professional internships usually begin during the summer and end the following May (usually nine months at 15-20 hours a week---but may be three months at 40-50 hours a week).  Additionally the student will preach a minimum of 6 sermons, carry out all the duties of his/her job description, achieve the objectives of his/her learning contract, interact with the Pastor/Supervisor, and meet with a Lay Intern Committee designed to support and evaluate the student's progress.

The Pastor/Supervisor is an essential element in the Supervised Ministry process.  Pastor-Supervisors should possess a Master of Divinity degree and have at least five years of pastoral experience or have training and experience of comparable nature. The Pastor/Supervisor attends a training workshop at the seminary at least once every two years for the purpose of providing insight into the process of mentoring and the art of supervision, as well as to review the philosophy and process of supervised ministry.  This session can also be scheduled at the ministry site.

We have a 522A Fall Term course running concurrently with a 522A Spring Term course .  Both are identical with the exception of meeting dates and coursework due dates.
