HAVE YOU BEEN ASKED TO BE ON A LAY INTERN COMMITTEE?

WHAT IS A LAY INTERN COMMITTEE?

A group of four to six lay people.

Who meet six times during the student's internship.

To assist the student in meeting learning goals and objectives which have been agreed upon by the intern and the committee.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE COMMITTEE?

To provide an opportunity for the intern to learn about ministry from the perspective of the laypersons with whom he/she ministers

To allow the intern the opportunity to listen to lay people and learn from what they have to say.

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES?

Of the Intern

Provide the committee with a list of learning goals and objectives which are important to him/her in ministry (i.e., platform manner, relationship in the fellowship, voice volume and inflection while preaching, etc.).   Interact candidly and encourage the intern through reflection and prayer.

Of the Lay People

Develop an atmosphere of love, trust, and honest sharing in which growth can take place, thus helping to equip the intern for ministry.

Of Both

A LAY INTERN COMMITTEE ORIENTATION SESSION IS PROVIDED BY THE SUPERVISED MINISTRY DEPARTMENT OF BETHEL SEMINARY TO HELP YOU BEGIN THIS LEARNING OPPORTUNITY WITH YOUR INTERN
