Bethel Virtual Seminary

Master of Arts in Transformational Leadership

It is said that leadership is among the most observed and least understood phenomena on earth. For the church of the 21st century, developing emerging leaders is a vital task. Bethel Seminary’s Master of Arts in Transformational Leadership program prepares men and women for leadership in ministry. Students who currently serve in professional ministry or who have significant lay leadership responsibilities can complete degree requirements through a distributed learning format with a blend of fully distance courses, local on-site mentored leadership courses, and on-campus intensives taught at Bethel.

A hallmark of the Master of Arts in Transformational Leadership program is the integration of classroom learning, peer interaction within a student cohort group, and practical application in the day-to-day supervised ministry context of the student. The program comprises 12 courses focused on biblical and theological foundations including hermeneutics, Old and New Testament, systematic theology, and church history. In addition, the program’s professional emphasis focuses on principles of transformational leadership, team leadership, leadership communication, and mentored leadership development.

Students Say:

The one-on-one time is incredibly valuable. It is the part of the program that drew me the most. The idea of someone building into your life, challenging you, encouraging you, holding you accountable—it’s a significant way to grow in your spiritual life.

Beth Miller

I love the team spirit that Bethel’s teachers bring; they really want to make this the best experience they can for everyone. Bethel is a great place to have Christ formed in you, in your heart and mind, and in how you live out your experience as a Christian in this world. Bethel is ahead of other seminaries. I am blessed to be at a place that is on the cutting edge, that takes our spiritual growth seriously and then looks at how it will affect the church and the world at large.

Mark Lennox

What I like about the Master of Arts in Transformational Leadership is that Bethel Seminary is taking into account the whole person. That is really important to me. With my background I have had a lot of schooling, and I didn’t want to come back to school just for a lot of head knowledge. I wanted to integrate all of me into the program, and vice versa.
